Mystery Birthday Tributes for February 13thI rarely remember to do birthday blog tributes to favorite film personalities on their designated birth dates but February 13th is one of those days where I feel compelled to call out several people for the major and minor cinematic “moments in time” they have given me. Instead of an editorial tribute though I’d rather make it a guessing game just for fun. Fellow Morlock Richard Harland Smith occasionally challenges us with his “name the film in the photo” puzzlers. So I’m taking a similar tactic except you need to identity the celebrity birthday connection, not the movie. UPSTAIRS AND DOWNSTAIRS is a clue to the identity of one of our Aquarius legends who was born today.
Among my list of ten are five actresses, three actors, one singer/entertainer and one writer. In some cases, I’ve selected an image from a movie that stars the celebrity in question but shows their co-stars or some iconic image from the movie instead. Other photos focus on a tell-tale image from a movie poster or lobbycard. Some of you may find this child’s play but for those who do not, I’ve included the answers at the bottom as anagrams (in order of appearance). The rest of you try to identify the birthday guest of honor for each movie connection.
Hint: The movie was released in 1951 and our mystery star plays a wrangler.
Hint: The eye is looking at the answer.
Hint: Star of a fifties biopic
Wouldn’t you like to be a Pepper too?
Hint: A co-star of Sonja Henie, Michael J. Pollard & Jill St. John
Hint: A one time Oscar nominee in the sixties
Hint: Famous for the movie line “These are the times I could take a knife and dig out your heart!” (but not from this film)
Hint: This marked her second English language feature

Ok, I got the Kim Novak and Oliver Reed connections pretty quickly. Triple Echo is a fascinating and overlooked little psychodrama. But the rest, except for that FORTUNE drawing, were hard for me. Fun though.
