No love for The ? Motorist (1906)?

That Hepworth is good but I like Explosion of a Motor Car from the same year better.

Trip to the Moon is justly acclaimed, but I think 1903's extravaganza Royaume des fees is equally worthy of mention.

I love the intersection of the early Biograph shorts and NYC history -- did you know that the corner of 23rd Street was notorious for its trolley-induced breezes, making it a prime ankle viewing site? It's true! And that's apparently how the phrase "23 skidoo" came about.... whatever that means.
Anyway, great list. I completely love it. And old Coney Island at night? Divine!

Wonderful collection -- thanks so much for reminding us of the charm and innovation of a century ago!

I remember so many times watching "The Great Train Robbery" in the Silent Cinema house that used to be at Disneyland when I was a little kid. No doubt that exposure also had an influence on my interest in classic movies.

I'm with Suzi -- how wonderful that these are available on YouTube!

What a delight!
