Great post! I love the melancholic last note. I hope my last picture show is rich, overindulgent Douglas Sirk film – perhaps “All That Heaven Allows” or “Written on the Wind”? In any case, something delectable.

Great post, Jeff! I have several of those exact same theater chairs in my house. They were snagged from our oldest one-screen theater venue before it went belly-up.

If there’s a heaven, I shall expire while watching a great film that puts a smile on my face. If there’s a hell, it’ll be from a heart-attack brought on from unwittingly subjecting my audiences to yet one more platter-mangled print with thick green/yellow, top-to-bottom emulsion scratches.

Does anyone know anything specific about the content and/or quality of either of these two movies?
Reenactments show Oswald confronted in the theater and always show several other people there too. One thing I’m sure of is that neither picture was a hit.

Melancholy last sentence, there! But so true for so many of us!

I guess Oswald goes on that short list with John Dillinger, whose last movie was evidently “Manhattan Melodrama” before he was ambushed outside the theatre.

And I’m sorry to hear that the Conspiracy Museum is gone. That was a fascinating place, and the Sixth Floor Museum is superb, both grisly and dignified.
