I first saw him when TCM had their Bollywood festival a few years ago (I think it was Dil Chata Hai but I’m not sure.) I’ve been talking about him and Indian films to anyone who will listen. No one seems interested in exploring them, but it doesn’t stop me from recommending them. Khan’s a very effective actor and from what I read is quite picky about his movie roles, unlike most of the Bollywood actors. He seems to be a mix of Sean Penn & Tom Hanks. I’ve often wondered why he hasn’t tried to break into American films because I know he speaks at least some English. He needs more recognition.
