Just caught wind of a Pickfair estate auction taking place Nov. 22-23, 1 pE/12pC. There are some really cool items up for bid like Mary Pickford’s personal autograph book, select pieces of Pickford’s jewelry collection and rare pieces of art from Pickfair.

Just thought I’d pass the info. along for all of you Mary Pickford lovers. I guess it will be broadcast live on www.auctionnetwork.com/pickfair, along with a tool that lets internet viewers to bid remotely against the floor.

Go Suzi;
I am a male, and have been watching movies for over 75 years, and even as a child I've seen how women were treated, not only as actor's but in every facet of movie making, but one woman comes to mind, Alice Guy-Blache a directors director; Ida Lupino plus many more, and we as students of the movies should really learn from great writers like you Suzi, tell us more. Thank you for my reawakening.

Hi Suzidoll,
This article made my day and reminded me of why I love classic movies. Your inspiring contribution to my continuing education on film's pioneers makes me want to see all of Gene Gauntier's work and--of course--the delightful sounding Girl Spy movies. I intend to read all of her memoir online asap. It sounds as though her own life was far more exciting than any cinematic adventure. Thanks so much for choosing this fascinating topic.

I thought I knew something about film history, but had never heard of Gauntier. Loved the
fact that she made the bible story after shooting a different one in the same place... can you imagine making films like that today? Plus I like that suzidoll wrote about images and roles of women in contemporary filmmaking. I will go online and read more about gauntier. thank you !!
