Little Shop Around The Corner was only 28th best love story? Puhleeze . . Pity . . .I bet some drivel like Top Gun beat it out. America has a 10 second attention span and can only reach back about 10 years of memory to pull out their all time favorite movie. (okay, I'm relinquishing my soap box). I guess I ought to check out the list before I sound off.

Thanks for the excellent list and for the remembrance of this wonderful director. For my friends who don't like "old" movies, I often suggest they see "Trouble in Paradise." It's a blast of pre-code sophistication and sexy elegance that seems to trigger an appreciation of classic movies.

Three other noteworthy Lubitsch films:The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg (1927) - which pairs the titled prince Ramon Novarro (under the tutelage of Jean Hersholt) with Norma Shearer. The Patriot (1928) - one of the most famous now lost silent films, which earned writer Hanns Kräly his Academy Award and received several other (unofficial) nominations. The Love Parade (1929) - the director is credited with this first pairing of Maurice Chevalier and Jeanette MacDonald, who went on to star in a number of other Lubitsch romantic comedies with music, like this one.
