More on HighHurdler’s “A Thanksgiving Tradition Lost”

Like HighHurdler, I seemed to recall that The Wizard of Oz airings back in the day were connected with holidays like Thanksgiving, but evidently it wasn't also so.

Danny Kaye Hosting OzThe photo is of then-CBS-TV personality Danny Kaye hosting the annual airing for the network, which was scheduled for January 17, 1965.  Certainly a post-holiday treat, but not quite spot on the holidays.  The annual airings, which started on CBS in 1959, were a big deal back then, getting huge audience viewing shares, back when movies could get huge audience shares on TV.  I'm not sure about the holiday thing, though.  Back in a previous life I had a nifty book that listed all the network airdates of feature films from back in the 60s, but can't seem to lay my hands on it right now, nor can I find the dates online.  Hard to believe that!  It would be good to check when TWOZ become a holiday tradition.   Perhaps an Oz aficionado out there has a list of the broadcast dates….

I seem to recall TWOZ being broadcast traditionally over the Easter holiday. This was in the late 60s/early 70s.
