It Haunts Me

Ever have one of those movies that you remember bits and pieces of, but can't remember the title? I've got one that I saw on television as a kid. I think it starred James Mason. And there was a scene that took place in a forest. And Mason (I think) had a flashlight, and he was looking for something. And he found what I think was a dead woman in the forest.

I've often wondered if this was from "The Reckless Moment," which I've never seen. But you know what? I don't really want to know. It's been an abiding mystery that I've enjoyed having. It's kind of like that one holy grail movie that always remains elusive and out of grasp, which keeps me searching, keeps my curious and wanting more.

So I think it will remain a mystery. That film, whether it is indeed "The Reckless Moment" or some other James Mason film (and I'm not even sure it was Mason…), will always be the Coming Attraction for me.

Sort of like how I still haven't submitted a photo under my Danger Boy profile yet…

I think the movie you're remembering is "Conflict" with Humphrey Bogart. Wish it were available on DVD; wish it were shown more often. Scene with flashlight in forest is when Bogart searches for his dead wife's body in the car where he left it. Won't spoil the story. It is a very well done film noir. Hope this helps.

This Movie was aired on ABC TV March, 24 1978 casting Charlaine Woodard, Nell Carter, Scoeey Mitchell, Clifton Davis , Aliana Reed, Mae Mercer. Would Be A Nice Christmas Present!

This is a response to Ms. Myrna Gonzalez. Perhaps, she is thinking of Hitchcock's "The Lady Vanishes" or "Terror Train." The first film starred Margaret Lockwood and Michael Redgrave, the other was a campy thriller which starred Jamie Lee Curtis. Of course, it is probably neither film. Hope you keep searching.

Aww this is so cute! But I know this feeling Danger Boy. I still want to know what film it was where a mans heart was sent back to his commrads in an ice box. Also there was a lot of water and some man with big guns wading through it hoping that nothing would jump out and bit him. BOO!

My own "lost in memory's fog" movie is a creaky old post-apocalypse cheapie that I must've caught on daytime TV in '68 or '69; I saw only about the last 15/20 minutes (always the best formula for losing a film's ID, n'est ce pas?), but recall the plot centered on survivors of global holocaust being to travel to other countries only by immense tunnels. It was either in black & white or a very poor-processed color, and the dialogue had a decidely stilted, wooden quality, which I've come to think of as "50's-Brit-International".When I stumbled over the Richard Dix vehicle "The Transatlantic Tunnel", I thought I had it nailed, but despite certain commonalities of plot, this one was an entirely different sort of film, actually just a thinly varnished anti-German paranoia rant from 1935.So I turn to the Welcoming Dark, and wave my lantern to all fellow Morlocks: who would know tunnels better than we?!I see eyes in the shadows! Who here can help the mighty Klondike?

Hi! i have a movie that I've only seen a part of. A man was murdered , so was his dog , dog went to animal heaven and the Lion sent the dog back as a human private detective to get the person who killed him and his master Has any body else seen it?

Tillymama,The movie you're thinking of is 1951's You Never Can Tell, which starred Dick Powell as Rex Shepherd (ha ha). The plot's just as you described it!

That sounds like a real fun flick; thanks for the Heads-up (or should that be muzzle?), Matilda; I got a real fang for dogs in movies (not necessarily "dog movies"!) and that one must be a real howl; I'll surf the net for a VHS copy today.

If the movie was in color, perhaps it was "The Frogs", a very forgetable movie with James Mason. It was pretty bad.. and I know as I like bad movies. Frogs 'killing' people by jumping on them.. LOLI went to see it as a kid at the local Drive In (oh god, remember those.. how I miss them) and was very put out because the huge frog with the human arm hanging out of it's mouth on the movie poster art never appeared in the movie. What ever happened to TCM having "Drive In" nights?
